Im kinda sucky with explanatory writing but bear with me.


Loveless is the story (and secret name) of a 12 year old elementary school boy that has a slight personality issue and has recently lost his elder brother. Ritsuka (this boy i mentioned) meets an old friend of his brother, a college student named Soubi. But Soubi wasn't just a friend of Ritsuka's brother, he was a partner in secret battles of words. And cuz his former partner's death, Ritsuka becomes Soubi's (or Beloved's) new partner for these word battles, but thats not all he becomes.

oh and i forgot to mention: it involves cat ears! :D

I just finished the anime and the ending was rather odd but still good. :) I'm glad to see I am not the only Yuiko hater, I just find her annoying. I do like Yayoi, though. I think he's cute! :D

I saw Loveless looong time ago... can say that animation is beautiful, and I've started to look it because of the Ritsuka's nekomimi. But I did't like the plot. It's not clear and inconsistent, imho.:)

I think, in my opinion, that it's more of a shonen-ai genre anime as it only hints at a male-on-male relationship. =]

I love Loveless, the story's really intriguing. The art style is beautiful, the characters are interesting. But, sorry to make fans angry but I don't like shouta :(...So I hope Soubi will get together with Kio!

Shouta isn't a character in Loveless. Shota, which is short for shotacon, is a Japanese slang portmanteau of the phrase Shōtarō complex and describes an attraction to young boys, or an individual with such an attraction. Outside Japan, the term is less common and most often refers to a genre of manga and anime wherein pre-pubescent or pubescent male characters are depicted in a suggestive or erotic manner.

The usage of the term in both Western and Japanese fan cultures includes works ranging from explicitly pornographic to mildly suggestive, romantic or entirely nosexual. As with lolicon, shotacon is related to the concepts of kawaii (cuteness) and moe (in which characters are presented as young, cute or helpless in order to increase reader identification and inspire protective feelings). As such, shotacon themes and characters are used in a variety of non-erotic media. 'Cause I was beginning to get slightly confused when I couldn't find the "character" Shouta on Wikipedia. Lol.

In the long run though I would hope for Ritsuka to stay with Soubi 'cause I just find it more compelling when there's a huge age gap between the characters. xD;;

Shouta's not a character, it's a genre. XP It's sexual attraction or activity towards underaged boys. It could be an older guy to an underaged boy. Or two underaged boys who are sexual active together (if they aren't sexually active then it's not considered shouta...it's just adorable! XD).

And I agree, it's more shonen ai. Soubi's typical response to anything is 'I love you Ritsuka' - I had quite a laugh at being reminded about that. But Soubi never does anything to Ritsuka, so I don't really consider it to be shouta.

Seimei in the manga was bordering on creepy sometimes, on that front. Or at least that's what I remeber thinking when I read the manga.

And I have to agree with one of the prvious posts, Yayoi is adorable. He's my third favourite after Ritsuka and Soubi.

I can see how it might be also consider "yaoi" when there's continuous hints of incest. o.o;; But then again, it's only hints so I'm back to shonen-ai. :lmao:

I did a double take with that one suspicious scene. In the first part of the manga I feel this vague sense of sympathy for Seimei, and Ritsuka loved his brother, and Seimei ket him safe- so I thought of him as a nice guy, shame he's dead, hopefully he's not. But then the truth was revealed, and he's actually quite a sadistic, scary guy. I actually feel sorry for Soubi a lot of the time. But now I don't know what's going on in loveless past vol9 so who knows what happens next.

If anybody's caught up with the manga I want to talk about Kio. Before, he use to be just the comic relief character. But now he's becoming a lot more important to the story.

That thing with the tattoo, his kidnapping, and now a long lost twin sister??? O.o didn't see that commin. I have a feeling that he actually might be in love with Soubi~

I actually flipped all the way back, and I must say, when they first introduce Kio he does come across as a female friend of Soubi's.
