View Full Version : Would you help a friend bury a body

Pink Bismuth
07-08-2009, 05:57 PM
If a friend or relative killed someone would you help bury the body and vice versa?

Would you ask questions or not want to know?

Would you help a friend or turn them in, would they help you?
(a Higurashi inspired question :))

Example:
Say it was your best friend or closest relative who killed someone you didn't know or didn't know well by accident or a lapse in mental judgment and if you don't help they will get caught and they'll get the death penalty.

No way. I don't care what happened, they probably wouldn't be my friend anymore.
I know I should be loyal to my friends, but how would I be able to trust them? And besides, if they found the body, I could be arrested as well.

ive actually done this b4: my friend wanted to kill himself so he asked me to help
i dug the grave, handed him the gun and walked away... next day i gave the police the suicide note and never regreted a thing

Not quite the same thing, very close to it. Rather loyal yet troubling. Interesting scenario not sure I could do the same. I can hide an already dead body but to assist in making the dead body is something rather different especially if it was a friend and they decided they wanted to end it, they may have changed their mind.

You also said you handed him the gun, but yes digging the grave shows a form of indulgence in his suicidal thoughts, though of course the decision is all his.

the question was "would i help a friend bury a body": i dug the hole, his(my friends) body fell into it
so it counts rite? AWE COME ON I WANNA WIN A PRIZE HERE!!?!

why not? it may be aiding the culprit in the court of law, but depending on who he/she killed and which friend it is, yeah i wouldn't think twice about the question. id tell him/her it was a bad decision killing the person in the first place though lol

Well if they just found the body.
What if they were the ones killing the person?
If you still wouldn't help bury the body then what would you do for you friends sake?

I guess it depends on
1. Which Friend
2. Who died
3. What that person did to die
4. And if i'm bored or not
If the person did something extremely wrong, the grave would already be dug. If not, I was never here and what dead body? :p

If I helped them in murdering the person, then I would indeed help them in all the ways I can. If I didn't have anything to do with it, however, then I would definitely not help my friend in burying someone that it killed. I do not want to be found guilty for assisting a murder or assisting in covering up a murder, and I've always kept to me the philosophy of minding my own business. In this case, I wouldn't be doing unto my friend as I would want my friend to do unto me, and neither would I find myself in the wrong if I don't help my friend in getting away with its belligerent act that it committed on its own.

If my best friend came up to me and said "yo I got a body on my hands can you help me get rid of it?" I would do it. I would do anything for my closest friends.

Like, even if they murdered someone, I would get them psychiatric help

I think not. I think it's morally wrong, but I don't know, there could be mixed emotions and confusion involved... I wouldn't want to, but there's a possibility, a small one, that I would.

Geeeezzz... OK, I'm a retired Cop so I know what I'm SUPPOSED to say... but please note that even when I was still working, I always put family first. So, it'd depend on the circumstances... though I question the 'burial' part... I've the entire Gulf of Mexico to 'hide' stuff in... and discovery is going to be much tougher... as would be evidence collection... so, the exact statement of 'help bury a body', well probably not. Now, a 'Sleeps with the Fishes' scenario I could see... :D

Very good point but in general I mean dispose of the body using bury the body as an example.
Anywho I've found everyone's answers very interesting it's almost always the circumstances though isn't it?

Well this is kind of sad, but I've fallen out of touch with all my friends since highschool. So if one of them came to me and asked to help bury the body I wouldn't do it. But first I'd have to tell them that I would and to meet me somewhere so that I could safely call the cops while they waited for me to never come. hehe..

Now if it was my boyfriend who wanted me to help bury the body, I would do it.

Indeed. Can you elaborate?

lol.

Anyway think of how dirty you would get to begin with. Imean shovels are not easy to use and especially in hard ground.
Also soil is very dirty and yous gonna get it all over your clothes.
Lastly when you have dug up soil and then buried a body. I think it would look like it does in the cemetry and be all churned up and even if you flatten it it would be more like clay.
Also all the soil around the grave would have footprints in it.

I read a book about a girl who buries her Mother who dies of natural causes but the girl and her friends are worried she will be put into care should the authorities find out and they would be split up as a group of friends. So they pretended the person Geraldine was still alive.
The book is by Virgina Andrews. Its excellent. The friends all help the girl to bury her mother because of their need to stay together.

Like I said earlier in the thread... use a large body of water.. In my case, The Gulf of Mexico comes to mind... :)

Add a couple of cinder blocks, some hemp rope.. (Not nylon line, it won't breakdown like hemp rope will), and a quiet little 'fishing trip'... and it's done.

Much tougher for the forensic guys to find anything useful...

Yes it seems the general consensus that it would depend upon the situation. I agree it would be very reckless and foolish to help bury a body without knowing all the circumstances. I admit there is only one person I'd ever do that for without questioning it.

The main example of the situation is this:
It was your best friend or closest relative who killed someone you didn't know or didn't know particularly well. They did it by accident or a lapse in mental judgment and if you don't help they will get caught and they'll get the death penalty.

Under these circumstances would you help, if you knew what the accident was or why there was a lapse in mental judgment? If you understood the situation would it convince you to be an accessory to murder?
