The Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer

I cant be the only one who likes this manga? (or even knows about it) Writen by Satoshi Mizukami (an artist who I know next to nothing about [image: http://animeforum.org.uk/images/smilies/sweat2.gif]) If you don't know it... If you like manga with loads of action, hilarious moments, a great cast of characters and great character development then go for this manga. It takes a while to get properly running but when it does, well when it does I would easily rank the fights in it with ones in naruto and bleach Here is the general outlook of the story (I've left out spoilers and other points, its more funny if you don't know certain aspects of the storyline) there is basically this giant hammer in space, invisible to the eyes of normal human beings, however to the eyes of 13 individuals it is a constant black silhouette against the sky. these 13 individuals are the 12 beast knights, and their leader Princess Anima, if they die then the hammer will descend on the earth, cracking it in two in a second. The hammer was made by a mage called animus who wants to basically destroy the earth, he makes golems to kill the knights in massive battles, the knights using supernatural abilities such as telekinesis, the ability to control ice, the power the scramble time and space (and other more obscure powers) verses the golems which all have their own special abilities (each golem is designed differently), the golems and their abilities getting more powerful as the number of eyes on the golem increases (the amount of eyes signifying number it was made by animus, ie, the first one had one eye, the second had two, ect ect). The story follows Yuuhi, one of the beast knights and the princess Samidare however it eventually branches off to follow not just their stories, but the stories of all the other beast knights as well. At the start of the manga there are some mild ecchi tones to it, however I found that they pretty much phased this out as the manga went on, eventually it becomes a great and powerful manga with a great number of awesome characters, great character development and brilliant golem designs (if you decide to check this manga out then you can look forward to the 11th golem, he is especially epic). It may take a while to warm up, but when it picks up and all 12 beast knights are revealed, then it becomes a whole different level of epic.

As a side note The beast knights are not unlike just normal humans really, they rely on their powers to fight the golems, to top it off, these golems are mental strong, in a manga like naruto the characters often just get by with healing powers, a slash across the chest will be healed in no time, or the characters will just sleep it off, in this manga healing stuff is pretty much non existent, if you get hit by an attack you aren't getting back up again unless you can use your powers to soften the blow. This is a real breath of fresh air as it makes the story value its characters more.

I think so, they are releasing the translations online now (the last one to be released was chapter 36 but they come out every week or so) but the series itself has ended.
